Accessible Pittsburgh

In 2010, the ADA Office within the City of Pittsburgh Department of City Planning announced the launch of the Hospital Compliance Guidelines for Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard-of-Hearing; the Hospital Compliance Guidelines began with a survey.

This survey was sent out to hospital administrators and to consumers to evaluate procedures and experiences of the consumers on how a patient or family member who is Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard-of-Hearing should go about receiving proper accommodations at the hospital and receive the best possible treatment.

The Hospital Compliance survey is available to fill out online by clicking here.

The video above features Dr. Katherine Seelman, Professor of Rehabilitation Science and Technology and Associate Dean of Disability Programs at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Seelman also serves on the City/County Task Force.
