Florida Accessibility Training in the Built Environment: Seminar & Webinar

April 05, 2019   |   Organized by: Accessibility Professionals Association - Florida Chapter

Description

RESCHEDULED - Date change from April 5, 2019 to August 16

Due to an unexpected issue the date has changed to August 16.

Florida Accessibility Training in the Built Environment- The following training will be offered April 5, 2019 in Orlando.  There will also be a webinar option.  It will be offered in a classroom setting as well as via webinar that day.

Our goal is to offer in-depth training to expand the knowledge base of those that work with ADA and Accessibility in the Built Environment.

This seminar promises to dive into details and a greater understanding of the ADA.

If any of these questions are occupying inordinate times in project meetings and training, then this seminar can provide valuable guidance for you and your team.

  • Are projects under construction experiencing change orders due to ADA field changes and interpretations?

  • What are some of the most common design errors?

  • How does ADA as a civil rights law differ from a Building Code?

  • If the building department issues a CO, why are Owners still being sued for ADA?

  • Is ADA awareness being implemented throughout the design process?

  • How can you provide accessibility without sacrificing aesthetics?

  • Do your Notes, Specifications, and Drawings (or Contract Documents) identify field control standards and verbiage?

  • Are there RFI's during construction or site visits regarding acceptable tolerances? What tolerances are acceptable?

  • Are the definitions of "readily achievable", "barrier removal", "technical infeasibility", "structural impracticability", "tolerances", and "Path of Travel" during Alterations in Existing buildings being considered and applied during design?

  • Are you experiencing programmatic challenges trying to comply with ADA?

  • Are the Operations and Capital Improvement budgets allocating annual monies for Barrier Removal, Readily Achievable and Path of Travel expenses during Alteration projects?

  • Is the term "construction tolerance" being interpreted correctly during plan review or field inspection?

  • How is ADA as a civil rights law different than a Building Code?

  • Learn how the differences between the Florida Accessibility Code (or EPCOT Accessibility Code) and ADA can be resolved

This seminar is organized with lecture content and interactive “hands-on” sessions set up in blocks of Morning, Afternoon, or All-day.
