CASp 101: Certification and Practices - Oakland, CA - January 17, 2020

Description

This 5-hour course highlights significant changes to the DSA Certified Access Specialist (CASp) Program, with information relevant to the CASp, candidates interested in seeking certification, or individuals who want to find out more about the CASp program.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the class students should be able to:

  • Summarize the history of disability access laws in the US and California

  • Understand legislation affecting CASp services: SB-262, SB-1608, SB-1186, and SB-269

  • Understand what is required in providing CRASCA inspection reports

  • Understand "applicable standards" and state and federal standards for accessibility

  • Understand Practice Standards for both the independent CASp and the CASp employed or retained by an AHJ

  • Understand the amended CASp Program Regulations

  • Understand how to use the CBC and approach CASp examination content

Recommended for:

  • California Licensed Design Professionals: Architects, Structural Engineers, Civil Engineers, and Landscape Architects

  • Local Building Officials

  • Anyone that performs assessments of facilities to determine compliance with applicable construction-related accessibility standards

  • Anyone interested in certification as a Certified Access Specialist

Class Includes:

Continuing Education:

  • 5 AIA / CES Learning Units / HSW Credits

  • 5 units California Architects Board (self-report)

  • 5 CASp (equivalent activity credit) / CAB Continuing Education Units
