ATiA Webinar: Transition Strategies and Technology Supports for Students

3:30 pm - 4:30 pm EDT, September 02, 2015   |   Organized by: Assistive Technology Industry Association (ATIA)

Description

Date/Time: Wednesday, September 02, 2015 3:30-4:30 PM Eastern Time

Description: Educators continue to struggle with how to meet both the demands of academic standards and transition planning. These two responsibilities sometimes seem too difficult to manage. By applying the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), teachers can successfully reach students of all DisABILITIES and collect data that can support individual students in planning and reaching their academic and transition goals. In this session, participants will explore the principles of UDL and how to apply the principles to the transition process. They will also explore how technology can be used to support students as they become involved in their IEP planning and how it can support teachers as they present academic and transition concepts in the classroom.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will understand how technology can improve access to information for students with disAbilities.

  • Participants will understand how the instructional framework of Universal Design for Learning can improve access to content and access to the curriculum.

  • Participants will be able to list five technology tools that can support students during the transition process.
