DESCRIPTION:
This webinar provides an explanation of the 2015 International Building Code ® (IBC®) scoping requirements for recreational facilities and the specific technical criteria in the new recreation chapter in ICC A117.1-2003 Accessible and Useable Buildings and Facilities (ICC A117.1). This discussion will further your understanding of where and what accessibility requirements are applicable to the many types of recreational facilities. Specific technical requirements for pools, playgrounds, amusement rides, recreational boating and fishing, exercise equipment, golf, miniature golf and shooting facilities will be addressed. There will also be a brief overview of accessibility requirements for related supporting services including lawn and bleacher seating, concession and ticket windows, locker rooms and family/assisted use bathing and toilet rooms.

OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of the course you will be better able to:

  • Discuss accessibility scoping for recreational facilities.
  • Identify the technical requirements for recreational facilities.
  • Discuss the accessibility requirements for related support facilities.

PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE:
This course is best suited for participants who:

  • Have some knowledge of model codes and their application
  • Know basic construction terminology, techniques, methods and materials
  • Know how to read basic construction documents
  • Have some experience in code enforcement

  • 2015 IBC Code and Commentary Volume 1 and 2 (3010S15)
  • ICC A117.1-2009 Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities or the Standard (9033S09)
  • ICC A117.1-2009 Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities or the Standard Commentary (9033C09)
