I've been getting blown up by Northstar Location Services for a few weeks now. It started with one or two calls a day, then it turned into five or six. They call my cell, then my work line, even after I told them to stop calling me at work. When I answer, they either hang up or get rude and start threatening garnishment.
The weird part is I never got anything in writing about this debt. No validation letter, nothing. Just constant calls from different numbers that I keep blocking. I finally started writing down every number, date, and time.
I looked into it and found out this is actually a real collection agency, not a scam, but that doesn't mean what they're doing is legal. Excessive calls, threats, calling my job after being told not to, and no written notice are all things that can violate federal law.
I'm not paying anything until I get proper proof of the debt in writing. If this keeps up I'm going to look into my options under the FDCPA.
Has anyone else dealt with Northstar? How did you get them to stop?
