I'm a few weeks out from sitting the Cisco 200-301 exam and I keep hearing mixed things. Some people say it's straightforward if you know your subnetting and OSI model cold, others say the exam throws curveballs with simulation-style questions that textbooks don't really prepare you for.

For those who've already taken it, what caught you off guard? Was it the network security section, automation and programmability, or just the sheer breadth of topics packed into one exam? I feel like 200-301 tries to cover way more ground than older CCNA versions did.

I've been mixing Cisco's official material with practice sets, including some Cisco 200-301 Paper questions , and it's been useful for spotting gaps, especially around VLANs and access control lists where I thought I understood the theory but kept messing up scenario questions.

Also curious, how much of your prep time went into hands-on labs (Packet Tracer, GNS3, etc.) versus just grinding through practice questions? Trying to figure out the right balance before test day.
