NuProstate Supplement: My Personal Review (From a Guy Who Really Didn't Want to Talk About This)

Posted with a mug of black coffee and a little reluctance.

I'll be honest with you... I hate talking about my prostate.

There's just something deeply undignified about discussing your bathroom habits with another human being. We'll talk about our golf slice, our busted knees, or how our fantasy football team is ruining our lives all day long, but the second the conversation veers toward anything "down there," we suddenly develop a very keen interest in the floor tiles.

But here I am writing a blog post about it. Go figure.

The 2 A.M. Wake-Up Club That I Never Asked to Join

It snuck up on me, which I think is how most of these things happen. One day you're sleeping like a teenager, and the next thing you know you're standing bleary-eyed in your bathroom at two o'clock in the morning, squinting at the wallpaper and wondering, when in the world did this become my life?

For me, it started with getting up once a night. I'm not twenty anymore. These things happen as we get a little seasoned. Then it became twice a night. Then, more often than not, it was three times.

My wife rolled over one night, still half-asleep, and mumbled, "You're wearing a path in this carpet, you know that?"

Ouch. She wasn't wrong. I'd pad down our little hallway at 1:30, 3:00, and again around 4:45, shuffling along in my ratty old sleep pants with my hair doing its best impression of Albert Einstein. I was a well-acquainted regular of the 2 A.M. Wake-Up Club, and frankly, I never wanted a membership.

There's nothing that makes a man crankier than never getting a solid chunk of sleep. I'm normally pretty easy-going, but after four or five broken-up nights in a row? Watch out. Slow Wi-Fi makes me irrationally cross.

Enter: Good Ol' Skepticism

I'm the type of guy who reads every one-star review before the five-stars. If a product claims to be "miraculous," my eyebrows shoot straight up to my hairline. Call it stubbornness, call it cheap, or just call it Missouri-born skepticism, but I don't hand over my hard-earned cash easily. When I kept seeing NuProstate pop up here and there while I was doing my late-night Google deep-dives (insomnia has its uses, I suppose), my first reaction was a pretty hefty eye roll.

Another "men's wellness" supplement with glossy promises? Mm-hmm.

Still... I was getting tired of waking up and watching the digital clock flip over, minute by agonizing minute. Enough so that my stubbornness was finally losing a wrestling match with my desire for decent sleep.

Taking the Plunge

After hemming and hawing about it for a couple of weeks, I pulled the trigger and ordered it with my own money.

I'm a creature of habit and I don't love adding yet another pill to my morning routine. I'm the guy who will put off taking a vitamin for three days straight simply out of sheer contrariness, but I committed to giving this an honest shot for at least a month. When the bottle showed up, I popped the cap off and took a look. The capsules aren't those comically enormous "horse pills" that make you have to do that little head-tilt back and forth, trying to psych yourself up before swallowing them. They're a very manageable size, and for that small mercy alone, I give them points.

Week One: The Waiting Game

I'm not a patient man. I want results yesterday. Patience is a virtue that, frankly, skipped right over me.

Week one rolled by and, if I'm being completely transparent, I didn't notice much of a change. I was still making my nightly strolls down the carpet path more often than I wanted to.

I'll admit, my first thought was, "Well, there ya' go, you fell for it, pal." I was fully prepared to be disappointed. The instructions suggest giving it some time, so rather than tossing in the towel, I kept at it every morning.

Week Two: Hmmm...

Something shifted during the second week. It wasn't a lightning bolt or a "hallelujah" moment where I threw open the curtains and the angels sang. It was much more subtle than that. I started to notice that instead of getting up three times almost every single night, it was trending toward two. That's not earth-shaking, I realize, but when you've been broken into chunks of sleep for months on end, even shaving off one trip to the bathroom per night feels like you've been handed a small gift from the universe.

I didn't want to talk myself into it either. I'm fully capable of talking my optimistic self into seeing results that aren't really there, so I tried my level best not to kid myself. Still, I was cautiously raising an eyebrow.

Week Three: Now I'm Paying Attention

By week three, I started to become a bit of a clock-watcher when I first crawled into bed. Old habits die hard. Most nights I was now only getting up once, and there were a handful of nights where---I almost didn't believe it---I slept straight through until morning. I woke up one day at five-thirty, stretched, and realized with a jolt, I never got up in the middle of the night. I honestly couldn't remember the last time that had happened.

I sat there with my first cup of coffee, bleary in the best possible way rather than the sleep-deprived way, and said to my wife, "I don't think I've made a hallway trip tonight."

She looked up from her oatmeal, smiled, and said, "Good. That carpet was starting to get lonely."

Smart aleck. I married well.

Week Four and Beyond: My Take on It

I've been taking NuProstate for over a month now. For me personally, the biggest change has been the number of middle-of-the-night wake-ups trending down rather than up.
NuProstate Reviews and My Personal Discounted Buying Guide

And let me tell you, consecutive sleep is a beautiful thing that you don't fully appreciate until it starts eluding you. I'm not going to sit here and tell you it "fixed" everything under the sun, because I don't believe in overselling something that I personally experienced. That just isn't how I operate. What I can tell you is this: for me, the frequency of those nighttime trips decreased noticeably over the course of about three to four weeks of consistent use.

You know how it is when something slowly improves. You don't always spot it day-to-day. It's only when you look back that you realize, "Hey... this is better than it was a month ago." That was exactly the case with me.

Another thing I appreciate: I've never once noticed any stomach upset with it, and my finicky system lets me know very loudly when it doesn't care for something. No complaints there.

What I Liked (And The Very Minor Gripes)

The things I liked:

For my experience, I saw a gradual, noticeable decrease in middle-of-the-night bathroom trips.

The capsules are easy to swallow, not those jaw-stretchers. No digestive issues for me personally. It wasn't some overnight, too-good-to-be-true flip of a switch. To me, a gradual change is more believable than an outlandish claim.

The very nitpicky gripes:

I'm an impatient soul, and I wanted to see something by Day 5. It took closer to 2-3 weeks for me to notice a change, so you've got to give it a bit of time.

I'm cheap by nature, so when I look at a bottle I always do the mental math: "Cost per day, hmm..." That's on me, not the product. I'm the guy who will drive across town to save a dime on chicken breasts.

Honestly, those gripes are reaching pretty hard. I'm having to scrape the bottom of the barrel for them.

Would I Buy It Again?

Yes, I would. With my own hard-earned cash. I'm not here to twist anybody's arm, and I'm certainly not going to tell you what you should do. We're all different, and what worked pretty nicely for this middle-aged guy may not be the same for somebody else. That's just common sense. But for me, it helped enough that I'll be reordering when I'm getting toward the end of my bottle. You know you've liked something when, rather than debating it, you just think, "Yep, I'll get that again."

The biggest payoff of all wasn't the bottle itself, though. Crawling into bed, pulling the covers up, and realizing that I was not going to be making my third pilgrimage down that dark hallway tonight. There's very little in this world that beats good, solid, uninterrupted sleep.

If you're in the same boat I was---making those middle-of-the-night trips more often than you'd like, and you're a born skeptic like yours truly, I'd say it's worth giving it a consistent try for a full month rather than bailing out at the end of week one like my impatient self wanted to do.

For me, I'm giving NuProstate a solid thumbs up. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go crawl into my bed with the full intention of sleeping straight through until morning. A man can hope, but these days, with any luck, I actually will.
