How I Actually Get Gems Codes in Monster Legends (My Personal, Slightly Chaotic Hacks)

If you've played Monster Legends for longer than it took to finish reading this paragraph, you know that gold is easy, food is a chore, and gems are the glittering green heart of the game that you can never seem to get enough of. I've been playing since ... hmm. 2015? Maybe 2016? The era of home buttons and breeding strategies that consisted of "throw two things together and hope for the best." Over the years, I've developed a healthy system for getting gems that doesn't involve spending actual money (unless you count the one time I bought a starter pack. Don't tell my mom.), and I'm willing to share it with you now, over coffee, while my allergies rage, and with minimal embellishment.

A few disclaimers before we begin -

this game changes often, so if something seems off, it probably has been. Building names change, events rotate in and out, numbers fluctuate. If it looks different than it did when I played, don't worry - the principle is the same

and second -

there are no legitimate ways to get free gems. On any website, if they ask you to type in your username and select how many gems you want, they will either scam you, spam you with useless phone apps, or make you complete a series of "human verification" tasks that accomplish nothing. My cousin Dev once fell for one of these scams back in 2019, typing in his credentials on a website that promised 50,000 gems. He got nothing but an account ban in return. If you're wondering how he managed to type in his credentials willingly, I'm so sorry. It wasn't his proudest moment.

Everything below is legitimate and in-game, and while you won't get 50,000 gems in one day, you will find yourself slowly, steadily accumulating a nice stockpile if you follow my tips with a mild amount of discipline. Which is a word I am not, personally. But I digress.

The boring-but-adds-up stuff

Think of these as brushing-my-teeth tasks - not exciting, but necessary.

Daily Login.

It's right there in the app. Just open it up every day, even if you don't intend to play. Certain days have daily login rewards in gems, and you don't want to miss out. I've opened up Monster Legends in hospitals, at weddings (during the speeches, in my defense), and on a mountain with a cell reception so weak it was a cellular-level miracle.

Monsterwood.

The little cinema building where you watch ads for rewards. While the rewards rotate, and sometimes include gold or food, you'll always get gems for completing it, and it's available every day. I like to open it up while I brush my teeth - two minutes of electric brushing, two minutes of ads, and voila, I've taken care of two tasks at once. My dentist would be proud.

Goals.

The achievements/trophies thingie. Half the people I know forget to check it, and you should absolutely not be one of them. You get gems for things you should be doing anyway - breeding a bunch of monsters, winning a certain amount of battles, feeding or hatching something. Monster Legends Hack Free Gems mod apk Codes Every couple of months, I'll casually check it and realize I've completed three or four things without even noticing. Free gems, friends! It's the best.

Leveling Up.

You get a small amount of gems every time you level up, so anything that gives XP indirectly gives gems. That includes most things, really - building, feeding, and the adventure map all give XP, which in turn gives gems. Just keep it in mind.

Getting back to the Adventure Map.

Yes, it's there.

Confession: for years, I've had the adventure map at about 60% completion because I got bored and wandered off to do some events. Then one rainy Sunday, I decided to get back to it, and reader, the rewards were waiting for me the entire time. There were gems on several of the completed nodes, as well as gold, food, cells, and XP (which relates back to leveling up!). Monster Legends Unlimited Gems mod Legit Guide The later islands are difficult, but if you've been playing Monster Legends for a while, your monsters are probably much stronger than the recommended level for the early ones. You can leisurely tap through them while binge-watching a podcast.

Dungeons, specifically the one you know I'm going to mention next

Dungeons rotate, and the one you want to prioritize is Gem Dungeon. When it comes up, I close everything else and get to it as soon as possible, but not before reading the following tips -

Check enemy elements for every floor. Common sense, I know, but I always forget

Bring healers or shields. The later floors are more about endurance than blasting through enemies

And don't get cocky if the first floor was easy. It only gets harder.

The other dungeons (food, gold, runes, etc.) don't have gems, but they contribute to other things, which in turn contribute to gems. Basically, there's no reason not to do them. Except maybe if you're really low on gems and need to save them for something else. Which brings me to ...

Events: my favorite kind of madness

Monster Legends is basically an event nowadays, between Maze Islands, Progressive Islands, Timed Challenges, Marathons, Puzzle Islands, and the countless others. Most of them have gems tucked in their reward tracks, so here are a few guidelines I follow.

Don't try to do every single event. I speak from experience; in 2021, I burned myself out doing every Maze Island I could get my hands on, only to realize that I was spending more gems than I was getting in rewards. Do the events that have rewards you actually want, and skip the ones that don't.

Read the entire reward track before doing the event. Some have clusters of gems spaced far apart, and others have them grouped together. The ones with clusters are good for slacking off and doing only the first few nodes - but the ones with bunches are better for doing the whole thing. It's all about what you want, really.

Maze Islands are notorious for being time-consuming, and I'm here to confirm that. The trick, as far as I'm concerned, is to set a stopping point and stick to it. One more node. That's all I ask. And yet, somehow, it's always 1:14AM and I've fed 400 monsters I didn't need to feed, and my Firesaur (his name is Sir Crispington, he's been with me since the beginning, and he will live forever) looks at me with pity. As a general rule of thumb, know when to stop, and write it down if you have to. Don't feed the whole island just because it's "almost" done.

Timed Challenges are a good source of gems, and a good way to keep your monsters at a decent level. They're also short, which is good if you have a busy week.

PvP and team play (a.k.a. letting other people carry you)

Multiplayer Leagues. Depending on what rank you're in, you get gems for placing in certain spots. You don't have to be a competitive player to do this - just commit to it a little, and you'll get rewards from playing. You should also have a team of monsters that can hold their own. Don't go with just your three favorites with no synergy. (That was me for about two years. That was not my proudest moment.)

Team Wars and War Coins.

Join a team, preferably an active one, and you'll find yourself with an ample supply of War Coins, which can buy you decent in-game items. I was carried through my first few wars by a team called "Soup Enjoyers" who, to this day, I have no idea what their banner says. I will never ask.

Team Race, the most basic battle royale thing, has lap rewards, some of which include gems, and is basically the easiest way to earn gems in the game. Participating in it casually has greatly increased my gem earnings, simply because it gives points, which in turn can be used for pretty much everything.

The Library, the sneaky way to get things

The Library rewards you for filling out the monster books, and people tend to forget to claim them. I check mine every month or so, and there's almost always something there. If you've hatched a monster that you don't plan on keeping, it still counts, so just feed it once and move on.

The Monster Pass, the free one included with the game, gives you gems at certain thresholds, and you can get those thresholds by doing everything else on this list. Just remember to claim them!

Official giveaways.

Socialpoint (the company that makes Monster Legends) does giveaways every so often and announces them on their official social media accounts or in-game news, so if you ever see one, do what I do and enter immediately. Real giveaways will never ask you for your account credentials, and anything that isn't official is most likely a scam. If a random account on social media asks you to DM them your password, it's not an official giveaway. It's a scam. Don't do it.

And now, the dreaded

how I don't spend my gems

Earning is one thing, but the other half of the gem equation is not being an idiot, and I am qualified to talk about this, as I have most certainly been an idiot. I call the voice that convinces me to spend gems on things the "gem goblin," and it is always, always wrong.

Speeding Up a breed because I "couldn't wait" and getting a common instead of a legendary. The gem goblin is strong in the early game. Reader, I lay on the floor. My then-partner asked if I was okay and I said "I don't want to talk about it" over a cartoon monster egg. I've never sped up a timer since. They're free, and waiting is free, and your gem count will thank you later.

Never buying gold or food with gems. Just. No. Farm them, dungeon them, habitat them. Gems are for things gold can't buy.

My personal "sleep on it" rule for anything over 100 gems, and especially for limited-time offers. The countdown is there to convince you to spend gems on something you didn't really want, but nine times out of ten, I look at it again the next day and realize that yes, I do not want it after all. What I do spend gems on are

the extra breeding slot from the Ultrabreeding tree (which pays for itself over and over again) and the occasional Maze Island push if I'm close to a monster I want. Math always comes before gems, though, so I'll only spend the latter if the math works out.

TL;DR for people who actually scrolled all the way down here (and I respect you for it).

Daily Login, Monsterwood ads, checking Goals and the Library every so often, finishing the Adventure Map, and the Gem Dungeon are all things you should do. If you do events, pick the ones with rewards you actually want, and do them when you can. PvP is a good way to earn gems, but you don't have to be a competitive player. Never speed up a timer, and never buy gold or food with gems. Any website offering you free gems is almost certainly a scam, and if you're wondering why your account was hacked, it's because you listened to the gem goblin.

That's pretty much all I've got, and it's not nearly as exciting as it sounds in my head, but my gem count speaks for itself. If you have any other tips I didn't mention, feel free to put them in the comments, as I am nosy and will read everything. And if you're looking for someone to carry you in a game, I have a Firesaur named Sir Crispington who has been with me since the beginning and will be with me until the end. Go claim those Goals now!
