Think Like an Architect, Not an Administrator

The biggest improvement in my preparation came when I stopped memorizing authentication methods and started understanding when to use SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, delegated authentication, or Identity Connect. If you can explain why one approach is better than another for a specific business scenario, you're on the right track.

Study End to End Identity Scenarios

I found it helpful to connect topics instead of studying them separately. Focus on user provisioning, single sign-on, federation, Experience Cloud authentication, identity lifecycle, and external identity integrations as one complete solution. The exam frequently combines these concepts into a single scenario.

Practice with Realistic Questions

Hands-on experience in Salesforce is essential, but realistic practice questions helped me identify gaps in my design decisions. I used Pass4Success alongside Trailhead and my lab environment because the Plat-Arch-203 scenario based questions encouraged me to evaluate tradeoffs instead of relying on memory. Reading the explanations after every question helped reinforce architect-level thinking and gave me more confidence before the exam.
