Courtroom Access

General Comment or Question

I am working with a university’s ADA Coordinator and Facilities Manager regarding a series of planned alterations to a law school courtroom, which they are trying to make accessible as possible.  My question revolves around access to the Jury and Gallery spaces.  Specifically because Assembly Areas include courtrooms in the definition and because these spaces have less than 300 and they are both presently organized in rows without a center aisle does the Horizontal Dispersion §221.2.3.1 Exception requiring second and third quartile placement apply?

….or could the wheelchair space be on the end of a row like shown in the US Access Board Court Access Guide for the Jury Box?   …how about the Gallery?
