Bad Time Simulator is a challenging fan-created game that recreates one of the most famous boss encounters in indie gaming: the battle against Sans from Undertale. The game focuses almost entirely on reaction-based combat, testing the player’s reflexes, memory, and patience through fast, unpredictable attack patterns.
At its core, the gameplay is simple in structure but extremely difficult in execution. The player controls a small heart icon, representing their soul, which must dodge waves of attacks inside a confined box. Unlike traditional RPGs where turns are slow and strategic, Bad Time Simulator removes downtime and replaces it with continuous pressure, where every second demands attention and precision.
The main challenge comes from the variety and speed of attacks. Sans uses a wide range of bone-based projectiles, moving platforms, and laser-like patterns that force the player to constantly reposition. These attacks often appear in rapid sequences, meaning players must quickly recognize patterns and react almost instantly. Over time, this creates a learning curve where memorization and muscle memory become essential for survival.
Another key aspect of the gameplay is endurance. The fight is not just about surviving one difficult moment but sustaining focus over a long and increasingly intense sequence. As the battle progresses, attacks become more complex and less forgiving, punishing even small mistakes. This makes the game feel like a test of concentration as much as mechanical skill.
