RIT Digital Arts, Film and Animation Competition for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Students

The Rochester Institute of Technology, sponsored by National Technical Institute for the Deaf, announced a digital arts, film and animation competition for high school students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. Awards will be given to entries in the following categories: web design, graphic media, film, 3D animation, interactive media and photo imaging.

Deadline: March 15, 2018

Students who enter must:

  • Be deaf or hard of hearing
  • Be in 9th–12th grade at time of entry
  • Complete and submit the following information online:
    • an entry form that includes:
      • verification that his or her work is original and that no copyrighted materials are used in the submission
      • permission-to-participate form filled out by parent or guardian
      • recommendation from a sponsoring teacher and confirmation that the student’s work is original
    • copy of the student’s high school transcript by email or postal mail
    • a 150- to 300-word descriptive essay of the processes used in their project
  • Have appropriate permission forms as required by their school district
  • Give RIT permission to use names, submitted images, likenesses and voices for possible promotion of competition

How to enter:

  • To enter this year's contest, please download and print this entry form, fill it out, and mail it to the address below along with your application package, which must include:

    • This entry form

    • A copy of your high school transcript

    • Your artwork on a CD (you may submit up to two entries). Artwork may not be submitted electronically for this contest.

    • A 150-300 word essay for each work submitted, describing the processes you used to create the artwork.

  • Please label your artwork to correspond with the letters (c and d) above and submit along with your Entry Form and your high school transcript.
