Common Use Circulation Paths in Employee Work Areas Over 1,000 SF

Notes:  The requirement applies to employee work areas that are at least 1,000 sq. ft. in size as defined by permanently installed partitions, counters, casework, or furnishings.  Access is required for common use circulation paths.  Portions of circulation paths that lead to individual work stations or to elements are not required to comply. The clear width of circulation paths, including ramps, can be less than the minimum specified where it is essential to the function of the work being performed (§403.5, Ex., §405.5, Ex.).  Doors and gates that are part of common use circulation paths, including those leading to and from the work area, must fully comply.
