R402.2 Protrusion Limits. Objects with leading edges more than 685 mm (2.25 ft) and not more than 2m (6.7 ft) above the finish surface shall protrude 100 mm (4 in) maximum horizontally into pedestrian circulation paths.

A frontal view shows a person using a cane walking along a wall. A wall-mounted object more than 685 mm (27 in) from the floor protrudes no more than 100 mm (4 in) from the wall surface. An object overhead provides vertical clearance that is greater than 2 m (80 in).
