DSA Advisory 11B-605.5.3 Doors. This item describes requirements pertaining to the accessible urinal compartment door and the route to the door, which are substantially similar to accessible toilet compartment doors.
The door is required to have a privacy latch which is flip-over style, sliding or which otherwise does not require the user to grasp or twist. This is to facilitate latching the door by people with limited hand or finger dexterity.
Since the urinal compartment door is required to be out-swinging, additional space may be required by Section 11B-404.2.4.1 for the door maneuvering space. Designers must also provide space adjacent to the door for a sign complying with Section 11B-216.8.3.◼
