Description: Technology has been a part of the workplace for a long time, but attention to whether or not it was accessible to employees with disabilities was an afterthought until the Americans with Disabilities Act brought attention to this issue. Work from home and "virtual workspaces" are becoming more and more common. Join this session to learn more about the state of these issues.

Janet Peters

She is the Project Coordinator of Accessible Technology, Great Lakes ADA Center. She has 20 years of experience with assistive and accessible technologies for individuals with disabilities. Janet has worked with a wide range of stakeholders to promote full and unrestricted participation in society for persons with disabilities through the promotion of technology that is accessible to all. She has a B.A. in Computer Science and M.Ed in Learning Technologies from the University of Minnesota.

Judith Stark

She is the Accessible Information Technology consultant for the Pacific ADA Center, specializing in promoting the use of Information Technology that is accessible to the widest range of end users as possible. She has over twenty five years of experience in the computer industry, as well as a post-graduate degree in Community Social Work. She provides technical assistance and training to businesses, individuals and governmental entities on best practices and legal requirements for creating and supporting accessible information technology Judith also works directly with people with disabilities to enable them to use technology in the most effective manner possible. Judith has over thirty years of experience in the computer industry, as well as having worked as a Community Social Worker earlier in her career.
