DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to assist you in preparation for the 2009 version of the 21 Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner Certification Examination, based on the 2009 International Building Code® (2009 IBC), and the ICC/ANSI A117.1-2003 Standard on Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities®. It contains a detailed listing of relevant code sections to guide you through the Task List from the ICC National Certification Examination Bulletin. You will be presented with series of quizzes that summarize each section. Finally, a comprehensive, timed examination simulates the actual exam experience. The questions are developed proportionally to exam topics covered. This course is positioned within the framework of an overall training plan that offers an opportunity for those students who are using this course as part of a larger training plan to use a contextual guide to help prepare for their certification exam.

OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of the course you will be better able to:

  • Explain the phases to prepare for ICC certification

  • Develop a personal study plan to prepare for an examination.

  • Explain the job tasks used in development of the examination

  • Locate key code sections and references relating to each job task covered in the examination

  • Explain the code sections and references that pertain to each job task covered in the examination

  • Answer practice questions.

  • Manage time while taking a timed practice exam

  • Determine your level of knowledge based on provided feedback

PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE:
This course is best suited for participants who:

  • Have limited or moderate knowledge of construction codes and their application

  • Knows basic construction terminology, techniques, methods and materials

  • Reads basic construction documents

  • Have construction or design experience

  • Have less than five years in code enforcement

  • Computes basic mathematical calculations

RECOMMENDED STUDY MATERIALS:
The following code books and materials are strongly recommended. These materials are the primary resources for any certification study plan. Before using your training course, we recommend obtaining a copy of each of the following resources:
