DESCRIPTION:The National Research and Training Center on Blindness and Low 
 Vision will present a State of the Science (SOS) Conference on Employment 
 for Individuals with Blindness and Other Visual Impairments at the 2019 Am
 erican Foundation for the Blind Leadership Conference. The conference will
  include the following research presentations and interactive sessions foc
 used on improving employment for individuals with blindness and other visu

 \n	Effectiveness of a Business Development Training for Rehabilitation Cou
 nselors for the Blind\n	\n	\n	What We Know About Job Retention and Career 
 Advancement\n	\n	\n	What We've Learned about Employment for Individuals wi
 th Deaf-Blindness (tentative)\n	\n	\n	New and Emerging Technology to Impro
 ve Workplace Accessibility (tentative)\n	\n\n\n \n\nSCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNI
 TY\n\nThe SOS Conference is an excellent opportunity for professionals to 
 learn about the latest research and products available to help their consu
 mers obtain employment. We will be sponsoring up to 20 VR agency professio
 nals to attend the conference. Details are below.\n\nWhat: Scholarship for
  attendance at the conference (registration and hotel fees)\n\nWhen: Febru
 ary 28 and March 1\, 2019\n\nWhere: Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington\
 , VA\n\nWho: Supervisors\, training personnel\, or administrators of VR ag
 encies (or other staff designated by the agency director)\; limited to one
  person from each agency\n\nExpectations for participating VR agency profe
 ssionals:\n\n\n	\n	Attend all SOS concurrent sessions sponsored by the NRT
 C and the general sessions sponsored by AFB\n	\n	\n	Participate in a discu
 ssion group on the afternoon of March 1\n	\n	\n	Complete an online survey 
 after the conference and one follow-up survey later in the year\n	\n	\n	Sh
 are information obtained during the conference with other VR agency staff
