  Home: Home Today\, Home Tomorrow competition challenges architects and de
 signers to create new standards in housing design so people can stay in th
 eir home as they travel through various life stages: from entering the wor
 kforce\,  getting married\, having a family\, sending kids to college\, b
 ecoming a grandparent\, following personal passions with new careers and h
 obbies\, and considering retirement.\n\nThe goal of the design challenge i
 s to generate universal design solutions and build an attractive\, adaptab
 le and affordable home of the future that speaks to and showcases livabili
 ty\, by promoting both aesthetically- and functionally-appealing designs f
 or better living.\n\nIn addition to the monetary awards to be made to thre
 e juried winning entries\, the first place\, winning design will be incorp
 orated into a real-life home and publicly unveiled to provide an experient
 ial learning opportunity for the general public.  The Home will also be o
 ffered to a deserving family.\n\nWhy This Competition Is So Important…\n
 \nPeople overwhelmingly want to stay living in their homes and communities
  for as long as possible. But\, livability isn’t about aging.  It is ab
 out comfort\, convenience\, safety and options throughout your life.  Yet
 \, people tend to buy or live in homes based on their present-day circumst
 ances…newly married\, having kids\, downsizing as empty nesters\, accomm
 odating health conditions\, and more.  This can present challenge at othe
 r life stages.  Moving costs money\, creates emotional stress\, leaves be
 hind precious memories\, disrupts relationships\, and creates impediments 
 to accessing support services. Life is all about change!\n\nLet’s alter 
 the paradigm and re-imagine Home so it changes with our needs\, as we evol
 ve in life.  That’s what Re-defining Home: Home Today\, Home Tomorrow i
 s all about\, and why it is so important.   It allows people to grow-in-
 place – expanding and contracting with a person’s life circumstances.\
 n\nAARP\, AARP Foundation\, Home Matters and Wells Fargo have come togethe
 r to present a new and revolutionary competition – to approach designing
  homes of the future in a completely different way. This design competitio
 n will challenge architects and designers to re-define the home of the fut
