MARY:\n\nWhen procuring information technology\, many state governments fo
llow state requirements for accessibility that are similar to Section 508
of the Rehabilitation Act.  A new approach to evaluating bids from vendor
s for accessibility has emerged from the states\, called Policy-Driven Ado
ption for Accessibility.  This webinar will provide a detailed descriptio
n of this method\, which federal agencies might want to add to their pract
ices.  The PDAA may provide a valuable way to evaluate vendors bidding on
contracts to develop IT\, where there is no product yet to evaluate. \n\
nPDAA should not be considered an alternative to existing processes and re
quirements\, such as contract terms and product specific accessibility doc
umentation\, but rather as additional information about a vendor’s abili
ty and commitment to produce accessible offerings in a consistent manner o
ver time.\n\nThe presenters for this webinar are the three State IT access
ibility champions who developed the PDAA.  They will describe the need th
ey wanted to address\, what the PDAA is and how they have been able to int
egrate it into their states’ procurement processes. \n\nJoin us on Augu
st 23\, 2016 for this free online training event brought to you by the U.S
. Access Board and the U.S. Chief Information Officers Council (CIOC). You
'll have a chance to learn how states are handling accessibility issues in
IT procurement.\n\nWHO SHOULD ATTEND:  This intended audience for this t
raining is Section 508 coordinators and anyone who is responsible for acce
ssible procurements of IT\, such as requiring officials\, end users\, IT m
anagers\, and Section 508 program managers\, among others.  The approache
s discussed in this webinar may help everyone who works with Section 508 i
n developing more effective processes for implementing accessible procurem
 ents.\n
