 ion plays an important role in creating an inclusive society. This course 
 examines strategies for introducing universal design in public transportat
 ion systems from terminals to vehicle design. It teaches best practices in
  providing information\, boarding\, fare payment\, and all other elements 
 of any transit system. Case studies highlight the benefits of a universal 
 design approach to transit.\n\nLearning Objectives\n\nAt the conclusion of
  this course\, participants will be able to…\n\n\n	\n	List strategies fo
 r improving the effectiveness of existing transportation resources citing 
 examples from case studies.\n	\n	\n	Identify safety hazards at transit pla
 tforms for all types of people\, including those with disabilities\, and l
 earn strategies for mitigating and eliminating these hazards.\n	\n	\n	Iden
 tify the most common barriers to use of transit terminals and vehicles to 
 people with disabilities and identify current research and practices that 
 aim at eliminating those barriers.\n	\n	\n	Discuss the ways in which the i
 nternet and smart phones have changed the way transit information can be p
 rovided using examples related to ticketing\, wayfinding\, and system-wide
