 generally accepted indicators of quality of life and well-being and serve 
 as the foundations of positive living. Good health allows individuals to e
 ngage in the community\, interact with family and friends\, and fulfill th
 eir potential. A lack of social interaction can have a dehumanizing effect
 . Universal design practices and policies can eliminate barriers and offer
  innovative solutions to help facilitate and promote health\, wellness\, a
 nd social participation. This course will teach design solutions for injur
 y and disease prevention\, positive mental health\, and ensuring access to
  resources.\n\nLearning Objectives\n\nAt the conclusion of this course\, p
 articipants will be able to…\n\n\n	\n	Explain why it is not sufficient t
 o focus on personal characteristics of health\, wellness\, and social part
 icipation while ignoring the built environment.\n	\n	\n	Define health and 
 wellness using the six dimensions of wellness.\n	\n	\n	Apply known approac
 hes in universal design to address health or wellness issues such as injur
 y protection\, disease prevention\, low-resources settings\, and mental he
 alth.\n	\n	\n	Utilize universal design guidelines to design environments t
 hat support health\, wellness\, and social participation for all.\n	\n\n\n
