DESCRIPTION:Date/Time: Thursday\, December 6\, 2018 at 2:30 PM Eastern Tim
e Zone\n\nLocation: Webinar\n\nDescription: Certain provisions in the AD
A and ABA Accessibility Standards are prone to misinterpretation and gener
ate many of the technical inquiries the Access Board receives. This webina
r will review and clarify these “hot spots” in the standards. Reviewer
s will untangle common sources of confusion\, including those concerning a
pplication of the standards in new construction and alterations\, employee
work areas\, toilet rooms\, signs\, detectable warnings\, and other topic
s.\n\nQuestions for presenters:\n\n\n	\n	If you are also covering PROWAG I
would like to better understand the allowance for 5% max cross slope at i
ntersections that are not controlled by a stop or yield (signalized inters
ections). Please provide specific examples of intersections that would req
uire 2% cross slope max or 5% max and why.\n	\n	\n	As a designer for state
DOT I have received a number of comments from people who are blind and th
eir trainers regarding the layout of the detectable warning. They would pr
efer detectable warning units to be laid out to assist with orientation to
the crossing. However current guidance from the Access Board is that they
are NOT intended for way finding but only to alter the pedestrian that th
ey are leaving the pedestrian zone and entering a vehicular or hazard zone
. Is further guidance needed to reinforce their purpose? or is an alterati
 on in their use warranted?\n	\n\n\nRegistration\n\n\n	\n	Required\n	\n	\n
