DESCRIPTION:ADA Shop Talk Episode 039 - How Do You Measure Angled Parking S
talls? Are Yellow Truncated Domes Required? Does Accessibility Apply To Ca
re Homes Converted To Apartments?\n\nInternet Radio Talk Show With Paul Kl
 ein &amp\; Mark Wood\n\nNovember 15\, 2017\n\nQuestions answered this epis
ode:\n\nRoger- An architect asked me if about allowable slopes in angled p
arking stalls and whether the "triangular sections" at the head of the sta
ll and the foot of the stall could have slopes &gt\; 1:48 and possibly hav
e a column in these locations (See attached sketch) - it would seem that t
hese areas are outside the boundaries described in the text of 11B-502.2\,
  11B-502.3 &amp\; 11B-502.4. How would you interpret this?\n\nTed -  In C
alifornia since July of 2016\, the CBC has required yellow truncated domes
be installed at curb ramps that enter a vehicular way. Our City Public Wo
rks Department is installing curb ramps on public sidewalks. Do you know w
hat code standards govern Cities when they are installing curb ramps? Can
it vary by City? Do you know if they are now required to use yellow trunca
 ted domes on public sidewalks? Thanks\, guys\, love the show.\n\nKeith - H
 i there\, I have a 2016 CBC 11A question: I have an existing one-story car
e home building that is being proposed to be remodeled into 10 one-story a
partment units. The units are proposed to have 3 units to a cluster with a
3-hour firewall between\, then the last unit. This is a privately funded
and owned building. First occupancy for this existing care home building w
as prior to March 13\, 1991. Does section 1102A.2 Existing buildings apply
to this? Thank you for your help on this.\n\nRoger - I was approached by
an applicant with a situation in a CA public accommodation where they want
to add a second “non accessible” unisex bathroom and they referred to
11B-213.2 Exception 4 applies which states “Where multiple single user
toilet rooms are clustered at a single location\, 50 percent\, but no fewe
r than one\, of the single user toilet rooms for each use at each cluster
shall comply with 11B-603 (Toilet and Bathing Rooms).” I think that they
first must meet 11B-213.2 Exception 1 demonstrating that it is technicall
y infeasible for single use restrooms to comply with 11B-603 to create a u
nisex bathroom. Then if this is true they can apply exception 4 – Your t
 houghts?\n
