 uss the strategies involved in developing a partnership between national o
 rganizations. They will share what they have learned during the past three
  years\, including what has worked and what has not worked during negotiat
 ions to develop and implement Memorandums of Understanding between Portlig
 ht Strategies\, the National Council on Independent Living and the America
 n Red Cross.\n\nLearning Objectives:\n\n\n	\n	Know and understand who Port
 light Strategies is and what they do in providing disaster relief\, traini
 ng and coordination before\, during and after a disaster.\n	\n	\n	Learn ho
 w national partnerships between Portlight and NCIL\, NCIL and the American
  Red Cross and Portlight and the American Red Cross came to be developed a
 nd an update on where those relationships stand now.\n	\n	\n	Know and unde
 rstand NCIL's role and that of their Emergency Preparedness and Response S
 ub-Committee in working with Centers for Independent Living and other NCIL
  members to coordinate emergency preparedness and response services during
  a disaster.\n	\n\n\nPaul Timmons\, a veteran disability community organiz
 er\, is Board Chair of Portlight Strategies\, Inc.\, a national disaster r
 elief organization founded in 1997 by people with disabilities to serve th
 e preparedness and response needs of people with disabilities and advocate
  for our inclusion in all aspects of this discipline.\n\nChristy Dunaway h
 as over 30 years of experience in the disability rights movement\, retirin
 g in 2014 as the director of Living Independence For Everyone (LIFE) of Mi
 ssissippi after 19 years of service with them. She currently consults with
  various entities to provide training and technical assistance on equal ac
 cess\, equal rights and emergency planning\, response and recovery. She is
  the chairperson of the Emergency Planning and Response Sub-committee of t
 he National Council on Independent Living.\n
