DESCRIPTION:An interactive virtual workshop on Disability Justice approache
 s to disaster assistance that recognizes histories of harm and centers com
 munities of color. The session will be co-facilitated by Justice Shorter w
 ho serves as the Disaster Protection Advisor for the National Disability R
 ights Network (NDRN) and Valerie Novack who is currently a Portlight Fello
 w at the Center for American Progress. Together\, they will use Title II o
 f the ADA and the 10 Disability Justice Principles created by Sins Invalid
  to guide participants through critical questions that call for a nationwi
 de reimagining of more equitable and effective state/local emergency manag
 ement practices. Join us for this captivating conversation anchored by the
  need for greater inclusivity of Black Indigenous People of Color with dis
 abilities as we all collectively strive to deepen our understanding of the
  intersectional communities we serve. It is this conscious and continuous 
 commitment to intersectional inclusion that strengthens our capacity to su
 ccessfully support survivors with disabilities throughout emergencies/disa
 sters.\n\nLearning objectives:\n\n\n	\n	Identify Disability Justice Princi
 ples and their relevance to disaster assistance/emergency management pract
 ices.\n	\n	\n	Understand how inequities in emergency resources\, services\
 , plans and programs disproportionately affect Black Indigenous People of 
 Color with disabilities.\n	\n	\n	Incorporate intersectional strategies int
 o state and local policies\, programs and practices.\n	\n	\n	Build a netwo
 rk of resourceful professionals and resilient partnerships committed to co
 nsistently implementing Disability Justice based approaches into all phase
 s of emergency management.\n	\n\n\nThese 90 minute webinars are delivered 
 by the Pacific ADA Center using the Blackboard Collaborate webinar platf
 orm. All sessions will be captioned\, recorded and archived.\n\nThis progr
