DESCRIPTION:Every day\, more than 130 people in the United States die afte
 r overdosing on opioids. The misuse of and addiction to opioids\, includin
 g prescription pain relievers\, heroin\, and synthetic opioids such as fen
 tanyl\, is a serious national crisis that affects public health as well as
  social and economic welfare.\n\nIn the next two episodes of ADA Live!\, 
 we will explore the opioid crisis from a number of different angles -- fro
 m treatment to the protections offered by the Americans with Disabilitie
 s Act (ADA)\, and from the justice system to legal and responsible use of 
 opioids to treat chronic pain.\n\nIn the first episode of this series\, wi
 ll focus on the treatment for opioid addiction and the protections under t
 he ADA. Rebecca Williams\, technical specialist of the Southeast ADA Cente
 r\, will discuss the protections that people in treatment have under the A
 DA. Mike Yow &amp\; clinical staff of Fellowship Hall\, will discuss the 
 treatment approach Fellowship Hall uses\, applying the Narcotics Anonymous
  principles and steps. This approach is often considered by professionals 
 in the field of addiction as “the grandfather of treatment.”  Fellows
 hip Hall is a private\, not-for-profit facility in North Carolina treating
  adult men and women with substance use disorder. Fellowship Hall has al
 so earned the reputation of being a center of teaching excellence.\n\nFeat

 he dream of four recovering alcoholic businessmen who wanted to help other
 s suffering from the disease of alcoholism. Fellowship Hall’s treatment 
 program\, focusing on the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous\, was model
 ed after the program used at Harbor House in Memphis\, Tennessee. Fellowsh
 ip Hall opened for business on December 21\, 1971. Fellowship Hall is a 99
 -bed private\, not-for-profit 501(c) (3) facility treating adult men and w
 omen. The original program has expanded to serve those suffering from drug
  addiction\, utilizing the Narcotics Anonymous principles and steps. Fello
 wship Hall offers a continuum of care to meet individuals where they are i
 n the progression of their addiction disease. Fellowship Hall is a member 
 of the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP) and
  the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC
