DESCRIPTION:Date/Time: Tuesday\, November 17th\, 2015 from 10:00 AM PST -
  11:30 AM PST\n\nLocation: Webinar\n\nDescription: This 90-minute webina
r will feature David Barton of the Northwest ADA Center. David will discus
s Outdoor Developed Areas including camping facilities\, picnic facilities
\, viewing areas\, trails\, and beach access routes\, and how these relate
to the accessibility requirements put out by the Access Board in 2013.\n\
nThe new guidelines provide a great opportunity for all outdoor planners a
nd managers to identify ways to make their recreational systems more susta
inable and available to more hikers while maintaining the character of the
setting and reducing maintenance costs in the long term.  Effective Nove
mber 25\, 2013 the U.S. Access Board issued a final rule that amends the A
rchitectural Barriers Act Accessibility Guidelines by adding scoping and t
echnical requirements for Outdoor Developed Areas including camping facili
ties\, picnic facilities\, viewing areas\, trails\, and beach access route
 s.  These guidelines apply to outdoor sites managed by the Federal govern
ment\, including national parks and recreation areas covered by the Archit
ectural Barriers Act.  \n\nThis webinar session will provide participants
with the opportunity to better understand these guidelines highlighting t
he different accessible route requirements in exterior built environments
by focusing on trails and outdoor recreation access routes.  The presente
r will also review other "outdoor constructed features" including camping
and picnic areas.  This session will explain which agencies and lands are
covered under these new guidelines\, and how recreational facilities on n
on-federal lands can benefit from using these guidelines and best practice
 s. \n\nLive Closed Captioning will be provided for this webinar.\n\nParti
