DESCRIPTION:The Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) is the first federal law t
 o address access to the built environment. Passed by Congress in 1968\, it
  ensures access to many federally funded facilities to this day. The ABA g
 reatly informed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 and its 
 requirements for access to facilities in the private and state and local g
 overnment sectors. This session will compare the ABA and ADA and review di
 fferences between the accessibility standards issued under these laws. The
  presenter will explain how the ABA and ADA Accessibility Standards differ
  in application\, scope\, specific provisions\, and enforcement. The relat
 ionship of these laws to other federal mandates that address facility acce
 ss\, such as the Rehabilitation Act and the Fair Housing Act\, will also b
