 ounded through the actions and hard work of thousands of advocates. Long b
 efore the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act\, advocates took 
 to the streets and to the steps of the Supreme Court\, as experienced and 
 documented by photographer Tom Olin.  In a second exhibit\, work by photo
 graphers Christopher Voelker\, Loren Worthington\, Larry Roffee and Mary L
 ou Mobley bring disability pride to our attention.\nThe Exhibit is free an
 d open to the public during open hours of the Kennedy Center.\n\n24/40 Cel
 ebration\nTwo monumental milestones.  One awesome celebration.\n25 years 
 ago\, the Americans with Disabilities Act extended civil rights to million
 s of Americans. 40 years ago\, the Kennedy Center’s VSA opened its doors
  to provide arts and education opportunities for all people with disabilit
 ies. These are indeed powerful reasons to celebrate. And so we shall!\nThi
 s is the 25/40 Celebration. Join us in DC this July—the Kennedy Center a
 nd the Smithsonian are offering a one-of-a-kind\, cross-campus celebration
 . We are filling our stages\, theaters\, and public spaces with outstandin
 g\, free events to honor a culture of creativity\, expression\, and Americ
 an heritage.\n\n\n\n\n
