DESCRIPTION:Date:    Wednesday\, August 2\, 2017\, 9:00am to 5:00pm\nLoc
 ation:    Wasserstein Hall\, Harvard Law School campus\nCEUs:    7 A
 IA/CES (HSW) | 7 AICP/CM\nTuition:    $850.00\n\nProgram Description\n\
nJoin a team of experienced accessibility specialists for a one-day interm
ediate-to-advanced workshop focused on federal accessibility laws related
to residential design and construction\, including the Fair Housing Act\,
Americans with Disabilities Act\, Architectural Barriers Act and Section 5
04 of the Rehabilitation Act. With many recent lawsuits filed alleging the
failure to comply with the architectural provisions of the Fair Housing A
mendments Act\, this more interactive session will allow participants to e
xplore common FHA violations and discuss the often obscure provisions of t
he HUD “safe harbor” documents.\n\nThis session complements the two-d
ay ADA session on Wednesday and Thursday. A 10% discount off tuition is a
vailable when you register for both sessions.\n\nRecognizing that the new
ADA residential design provisions became effective relatively recently\, t
his session will also cover the key residential design issues and potentia
l accessibility pitfalls associated with the 2010 ADA Standards and the si
milar Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) provisions. Familiarity with these
ADA Standards will be beneficial to those who design housing for entities
receiving federal financial assistance because HUD has published a “deem
ing notice” allowing\, with a few exceptions\, the residential provision
s of the 2010 ADA Standards to be “deemed” an acceptable design Standa
rd for compliance Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. For state and loc
al governmental agencies offering or managing residential programs\, this
session will include interactive discussions on the ADA “supplemental re
quirements” associated with residential dwelling units\, ADA/504 program
accessibility requirements for housing\, “safe harbor” provisions\, a
nd the appropriate use of the older Uniform Federal Accessibility Standard
s.\n\n\n\nAdditional Information\n\n\n\nA 10% discount off tuition is avai
lable when you register for both 'ADA\, ABA\, &amp\; 504 Access' and 'Fair
Housing' programs. Upon registration to the first program\, a promo code
will be emailed to you for use on the second program.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho Sh
