DESCRIPTION:2015 IBC Accessible Means of Egress\n \nSUBSCRIPTION PERIOD: 9
 9 DAYS \n\nENROLLMENT: SELF-PACED\n\nCOURSE TRACKING NUMBER: 1950SM416\n\
 nPRICE: $49.00\nSign In to purchase this course.\n \nDESCRIPTION:\nThis w
ebinar provides an explanation of the 2015 International Building Code ®
(IBC®) accessible means of egress requirements.\n\nThe way someone enters
and moves into a building is not always the same way they move to evacuat
e a building in an emergency. In addition to accessible entry\, persons wi
th disabilities must be considered when designing plans and building syste
ms used for emergency evacuation. The accessible means of egress provision
s are required for all new construction. This program will introduce you t
o the concepts\, details\, options and application of accessible exiting p
rovisions. Discussions will include operational safety plans\, fire drills
\, and notification/communication for occupants in a building during the e
mergency and physical building requirements. Examples of typical building
layouts will be included to facilitate understanding. Also provided will b
e a brief overview of the new technologies for fire service access elevato
rs and occupant evacuation elevators\, which can be an important part of t
he accessible means of egress.\n\nThe accessible means of egress provision
s from the International Building Code (IBC) are referenced in the 2010 AD
A Standard for Accessible Design (also called the new ADAAG). This program
will assist in understanding how the codes and federal regulations are no
w working to harmonize the national response to designing a building not o
nly for ingress\, but for egress as well.\n\nOBJECTIVES:\nUpon completion
of the course you will be better able to:\n\n\n	Describe what are the uniq
ue concerns for persons with disabilities that need to be addressed in a f
ire and safety evacuation plan\n	Identify how many accessible means of egr
ess are required from a space and a building.\n	Explain which evacuation s
ignage must be visual or tactile.\n	Explain the requirements for an access
ible means of egress.\n	Have a basic understanding of the intent of a fire
service access elevator or occupant evacuation elevator system.\n\n\nPRER
EQUISITE KNOWLEDGE:\nThis course is best suited for participants who:\n\n\
n	Have some knowledge of model codes and their application\n	Know basic co
nstruction terminology\, techniques\, methods and materials\n	Know how to
read basic construction documents\n	Have some experience in code enforceme
nt\n\n\nRECOMMENDED STUDY MATERIALS:\nThe following code books and materia
ls are strongly recommended. These materials are the primary resources for
any certification study plan. Before using your training course\, we reco
mmend obtaining a copy of each of the following resources:\n\n\n	2015 Inte
rnational Building Code (IBC) (3000S15)\n	2015 IBC Code and Commentary Vol
ume 1 and 2 (3010S15)\n	ICC A117.1-2009 Accessible and Usable Buildings an
d Facilities or the Standard (9033S09)\n	ICC A117.1-2009 Accessible and Us
able Buildings and Facilities or the Standard Commentary (9033C09)\n\n\nCE
U VALUE (ICC):\nThis course has an expected completion time of 1.5 HOURS.
For ICC certifications\, this converts to exactly 0.15 CEU's.\n\nCEU/LU VA
